After a long ,arduous, and formidable process involving several motorcycles I purchased or borrowed including Honda XR650,CRF450X XR400 XR200 BMW 1200GS, F800GS,Suzuki DRZ400, KTM Adventure / 950 Superenduro, Kawasaki KLX450R.(BMW's & KTM's were my first choice, I soon discovered I used less than 50% of its capability to ride safely for the conditions here in the Philippines, in addition they really don't start to sing until you're well above 130 kph, way to fast for a holiday ride in the confined tropic jungles of the Philippines. So in the end it was a waste of a great motorcycle and hard earned money) When all the points and tests were added up The Kawasaki KLR650 came out ahead for the unique wide range of road conditions found in the Philippines. One huge factor was ease of maintenance for a 3rd world island country, The KLR650's conventional construction simple carburated torquey motor, plenty of passing power, parts availability, comfortable for rider and passenger, gave it the nod to be our bike of choice. Like all my previous guest after a few hours on the KLR650 they agree that its well match to the conditional we face in the Philippines having just as much fun if not more then their high tech high priced electronically fuel injected big brother, and we don't need to carry a laptop with proprietary software along with the overpriced factory trained technician to remap our fuel settings in the middle of the jungle. Trust me you will have the time of your life on our tour riding the KLR650. that combined with a low deposit, make the trip affordable.
